It appears that Spring has definitely arrived! Our recent blogs have touched on outdoor maintenance tips. Today we’ll focus on indoor tips……
– Change air conditioning unit air filters monthly. A dirty filter can lower the efficiency of your home’s HVAC system.
– Test your air conditioning system. If you wait until the first hot day of the season to check it and find a problem, you’ll probably have to wait a while to have it serviced.
– Test smoke and fire alarms, replacing batteries and cleaning dust from the covers.
– Clean ceiling fans. In addition to providing a calming breeze, ceiling fans increase the overall airflow throughout your home.
– Check/replace fire extinguishers. Make sure each unit meets current safety standards.
– Examine your sump pump. Make sure the sump pump is operating correctly, and install a battery backup pump. The backup will kick on when the electricity goes out. If your sump pump fails, an alarm goes off, letting you know the backup is working.
– Check for gaps where mice and insects might be able to enter. Seal around under-sink faucet pipes, gaps where cabinets meet the drywall, etc.
– Clean and store humidifiers.
– Deep clean carpets.
Happy Spring!
