HOW TO CHOOSE A SOFFIT AND FASCIA

Eaves Roof — Warrenville, IL — D-S Exteriors Inc

Siding your home to protect it against the elements involves more than just the walls themselves. The eaves where the roof extends out past the walls need to be covered, as well.

The soffit section is below the eaves, running from the edge of the roof to the wall of the house. The fascia is the visible section along the edge of the roof, hiding the soffit.

You can choose among a variety of styles and types, or you can create your own soffit and fascia combination.

The beginning of our Winter season was unusually mild, and hopefully you were able to complete your outside home maintenance. Winter has definitely arrived, and here are a few tips to keep things warm and safe in your home. — Heating System — Set your heat to no lower than 55 degrees. The temperature inside the walls where the pipes are located is colder than the living areas inside your home. — Open the doors to unused rooms in your home to keep an even temperature throughout your home. — Insulation – Add some extra insulation in your attic to prevent ice dams. If too much heat escapes into the attic, it can warm the ice and snow on the roof. When it refreezes, it can cause an ice dam, which can lead to water damage inside your home. – Add weather stripping around doors and caulk windows to prevent heat escape. — Water – Learn how to shut off your water in case your pipes freeze; this may help to prevent water damage. Most of all, enjoy the Winter season — escape to Florida!
